Dick Cheney is still the Dick Cheney we got to know, but not love, for eight years. In an interview with CNN’s John King, he strenuously defends George W. Bush and the policies implemented during the administration Cheney was such a big part of. He also launches an outright attack on President Obama, saying that the new administration’s politics will leave America vulnerable to attack. Cheney proves he is still deluded.

President Barack Obama will today announce the lifting of restrictions on government funding for stem cell research. The restrictions were imposed eight years ago by George W. Bush, saying that such research would cross a ‘moral line’. Another poor Bush decision to be put right.

Several MPs have called for an inquiry into the claims of Binyam Mohamed, who is adamant the MI5 fed information to the CIA when he was in custody, making the MI5 implicit in the torture he endured while in captivity. Mohamed was held in Afghanistan and Morocco before being transferred to Guantanamo Bay. The broken image of the MI5.

2634 Americans was asked who they admired enough to call a hero. President Obama came out on top, with Jesus in second place. This interactive Harris poll is heavy with politicians, and comes up with quite a spread. Obama in the top spot, Jesus in second and coming up in fifth place is none other than George W. Bush. God doesn’t even make the top ten, but having to make do with an 11th place. I guess action, and lots of it, speaks louder than words. Obama is bigger than Jesus.

Finally, we have a politician who dares to say publicly what most of them are thinking; Bush’s war on terror was a mistake. Speaking in Dubai, David Miliband, the British Foreign Secretary, said that by declaring ‘war on terror’ President Bush had forced extremists to unite against the west. Mr. Miliband continued on to say that the phrase suggested that terrorism had to be tackled by force and said that historically, this was not the best way to tackle the dangers facing the West. Will history improve Bush’s record?

For a lot of people, George W. Bush is already firmly placed on the ‘worst president’ list. Not because he started a war, or because he completely ignored the dangers of global warning, or his utter failure to act after hurricane Katrina, but because his total ineptness. He never should have become president, let alone a politician. Will history improve Bush’s record?

The traditional act of giving clemency by the US president happened again on Tuesday. 19 convicted criminals had their slate wiped clean. 24 hours later president Bush took a quite remarkable step, and reversed one of them. One last mishap for Bush?

Joe Biden visited Larry King on Monday, and much of the interview he talked about the move into the White House. Biden said that domestically he isn’t worried about the soaring expectations to the president elect, but internationally he is. He told Larry King that he had been contacted by several world leaders who were excited to finally have an American leader who they think has a policy that reflects their own, and who will listen and work with them. Biden’s worries for Obama.

As usual it became Tuesday 4th November in Europe before America, but what kind of a result are we hoping for here?

I can’t say for sure, but I can say that the one McCain supporter I have met, changed his mind the moment Palin was selected as his Vice President candidate. So that should give a general impression on what Europe hopes for. But, since it is all out of our hands anyway, we can all just lean back, cross everything we have to cross and relax, while we enjoy something this campaign has had more of than any other before it. And that is Comedy! The world holds its collective breath.
